Registration Now Open for OCC’s Forum on Supporting Responsible Innovation in the Federal Banking System

WASHINGTON — The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) today opened registration for its forum on “Supporting Responsible Innovation in the Federal Banking System.”

OCC will host the forum on June 23, 2016. The forum will be at its Headquarters in Constitution Center, 400 7th St SW, Washington DC 20219.

“The forum provides a unique opportunity for attendees to interact with industry, academic, community, and agency leaders,” said Comptroller of the Currency Thomas J. Curry. “It demonstrates our commitment to maintaining an open, active dialogue regarding innovation, and will help further our thinking as we develop our framework for responsible innovation.”

Attendees will hear from bankers, financial technology companies, community and consumer groups, academics, and OCC officials. Panelists will discuss trends in financial innovation today, managing risks associated with innovation, incorporating innovation into strategic plans, and innovation’s potential to promote financial inclusion and consumer protection. OCC panelists will cover the agency’s perspective on financial innovation as well as comments it has received regarding its white paper, “Supporting Responsible Innovation in the Federal Banking System: An OCC Perspective,” published in March.

There is no cost to register, but space is limited. Attendees must register no later than June 9, 2016, and registration will close when full. If unable to attend, the event will be webcast live from OCC.gov.

Advance registration is required, and attendees should provide their full name, e-mail address, and organization, if any. For security reasons, attendees may be subject to screening and must present valid government-issued identification to enter the building.

Questions about the forum or the agency’s white paper can be directed to innovation.forum@occ.treas.gov.
